How to prepare for a house cleaning

A few minutes of prep makes every visit more effective.

Pick up and clear surfaces

Put away clothes, toys, papers and loose items so surfaces and floors can be cleaned. A cleaning is not a tidying service, so the clearer the space, the more time goes to actual cleaning.

Put away valuables and fragile items

Set aside anything delicate, valuable or sentimental, and let us know about anything we should be careful around.

Plan for access

  • Tell us how to get in: you at home, a door code or a hidden key
  • Secure or plan for pets so everyone stays safe and comfortable
  • Make sure there is parking nearby

Choose your two-hour arrival window

When you book online, you pick a two-hour arrival window: 8-10, 10-12, 12-2 or 2-4.

Share what matters most

Tell us about any areas that need extra attention. See our written checklist for what is included, and our FAQ for policies.
